- Heterotrophic nutrition
Heterotrophic nutrition is also referred to as non-autotrophic nutrition. It is a process in which organisms or plants depend upon autotrophic nutrition for their food. These are the plants that cannot produce their own food.
Further heterotrophic nutrition is also divided into subtypes.
- Holozoic nutrition
Holozoic nutrition is a process in which animals take their food whole. In this case, the organism digests the food and is absorbed by breaking down into small pieces.
- Saprophytic nutrition
Saprophytic nutrition is when organisms receive their nourishment by feeding the dead and decomposed organic substances.
- Parasitic nutrition
Parasitic nutrition is a process in which living organisms obtain their food from any other living organism. Different microorganisms are called the host body.
- Symbiotic nutrition
